Discuss a Mandate

About

A Consultancy Organised Around the Life of a Deal

Amkost advises on the commercial and legal decisions that decide whether a cross-border move succeeds. Our involvement starts before a client commits capital and lasts until that capital is returned.

Horizon. Gateway. Value.

The three words behind Amkost follow the order in which our clients make their decisions.

  1. Horizon

The planning stage. Feasibility studies and due diligence test whether an opportunity justifies the capital it needs, before anything is signed.

  2. Gateway

The point of entry. Market entry and import-export work turn an approved plan into a licensed business trading in its new market, with legal advisory alongside.

  3. Value

The return. M&A and exit planning decide when a client sells and on what terms.

Our Mission

To give every client a senior adviser with working knowledge of their sector and of the markets they trade between.

Our Values

What Guides Each Mandate

  • Principal Access

The adviser who takes on a mandate is the adviser who delivers it.

  • Sector Fluency

We work only within the four industries we know well, so our judgement comes from real transactions.

  • Commercial Candour

If the numbers don't support a deal, we say so early, even if that ends the engagement.

  • Discretion

Client identities and deal terms stay confidential unless the client chooses to share them.

One Accountable Lead, Specialists on Call

How We Work

Each Amkost engagement has a single senior lead who owns both the plan and the outcome. If a mandate needs expertise outside our own team, we find it through a network of independent professionals and stay accountable for their work.

Who We Bring In

  • Regulated investment advisers, for clients putting money into digital assets or other regulated products
  • Maritime lawyers and marine surveyors, for vessel purchases and flag registration
  • Chartered surveyors and valuers, for property acquisitions and development appraisals
  • Tax specialists, for cross-border ownership and stamp duty planning

The Four Stages of a Mandate

  1. Brief

We agree the objective and the key decision points with the client, then set a fee and timetable to match.

  2. Assess

Feasibility and due diligence work tests the opportunity against the client's appetite for risk.

  3. Execute

We lead the negotiations and regulatory filings, coordinating outside specialists until the transaction completes.

  4. Exit

For founders and investors, we plan the route to a sale or merger from the outset, so the business is ready when a buyer appears.

Specialist Network

Expertise Brought in When a Mandate Calls for It

Each client's needs are different, so Amkost puts together the right support for each mandate. When a shipping client needs a vessel inspected or a contract tested, we bring in firms that work in the maritime industry every day. The same applies in property and energy, where surveyors and engineers carry out the technical work.

Our network also includes philanthropic organisations. When a project has a community or social element, we can introduce those organisations so they can support it alongside the client.

Amkost briefs every party we involve, and their fees are agreed with the client in advance. Their input then becomes part of a single set of recommendations, with Amkost accountable for the result.

Why London and Singapore

Two Cities Chosen for Our Sectors

Each of our bases leads globally in at least one of the industries we advise on. Formal trade and regulatory links between the UK and Singapore have also grown steadily over the past decade.

In practice, a UK manufacturer can trade into Southeast Asia under preferential terms. A Singapore investor, meanwhile, can buy into London property with advisers in both cities.
